Eric Armstrong at The Moving Arts Film Journal is a prolific blogger, on a team of bloggers concerning all things cinema. At the halfway point of 2009 he has a list of his top five movies so far.

More importantly he has the dish on who will play the Green Lantern. Two great things about this news: 1. Hal Jordan will be this film’s GL (accept no substitutes) and 2. Justin Timberlake will NOT be the star. (Sorry Shannon, squeee or no squeee, he’s not right for this part.

Jerrod has graduated. He posts a kind and gracious tribute to some of the people that have helped him arrive at this milestone in his life.

Then he loses major man-points at the end by quoting the lyrics from The Golden Girl’s theme song. He recovers, somewhat, from the stumble with the Marcus Aurelius quote but both Douglas and Main are troubled by his unreasoned rejection of the Y chromosone. We urge him to regain man-points by following the link Stan has to 75 movies every man must see and catching up on the 70 or so he obviously hasn’t absorbed yet.

We are not entirely happy with this list either. Tootsie? Really? And Johnny Dangerously? Being male does not mean we have no standards. We would replace it with The Big Lebowski (Donnie, Walter and the Dude are the yin, yang and yup of the male ego) and we would replace Tootsie with The Magnificent Seven. The theme song alone is worth five man-points.
